They are Bradley IFVs (Infantry Fighting Vehicle). Like an APC, but intended to engage in combat directly instead of just being an armored transport.

or as some might say
“a troop transport that can’t carry troops, a reconnaissance vehicle that’s too conspicuous to do reconnaissance, and a quasi-tank with less armor than a snowblower but with enough ammo to take out half of DC”

Despite the movie (and the actual problems surrounding its creation), the Bradley did show itself to be incredibly effective in the first Gulf War. Seems like it hasn’t done as well in our endless counter-insurgency though.

It took out a lot of tanks, too bad the didn’t get the IFF markers worked out though, the vast bulk of its losses were on account of it looking like an enemy tank enough for friendlies to take it out.

That’s what they get for using Waze.

It was built to oppose a mass armored invasion across Europe, which is why it did so well in Gulf Wars 1 & 2. Despite the claims to the contrary, it excels at tank to tank combat. The problem is that the very things that make it good a tank to tank combat are liabilities in a counter-insurgency effort with a hefty dose of IEDs. Like virtually all armored vehicle, it has a flat bottom(to help keep the profile as low as possible), which “catches” the explosion of an IED(you want a V-shaped hull to push the explosive force to the sides). It’s main defense was meant to be speed and maneuverability.

Haha, I was hoping you did. I couldn’t remember off the top of my head if you’d done this before, but it’s perfect.

Nice. On my desktop it rotates the images, sometimes, but it doesn’t seem to do it from the phone. Thanks Kinja...

I thought it was Oklahoma teachers that were striking. I guess De Vos must be going in with her staff to quell the rebellion.

Speaking of DC, I would love to crush some left lane hogs on the beltway in one of these. Not that it can probably go over 45mph, but a guy can dream.

Literally watched an EFP Pierce the troop cabin and detonated at neck level inside in Fallujah in 2007, gruesome shit. I would go anywhere on foot before riding around in fake armor
